This TFP Photoshoot is posted on Starnow, but anyone is welcome.

Guerilla Style Guildford
Well I have scouted locations for my TFP Photoshoot #1 in Guildford. Basically I work fulltime so am looking for people to photograph “Guerilla” style in my lunchbreak so 30-45 minutes per photoshoot.

Locations

Primarily looking for urban, gritty locations to shoot in. My initial foray was quite good. I also want some more upbeat and modern looking locations to get a good blend of shots and styles, but this might require clothing changes and this might not fit into the time so initially am going grungy on this shoot and second TFP photoshoot will be more fashion and upbeat (and clean…). These images were taken across 10 minutes as I had a quick bomb around to get some ideas of locations.

Styling and Lighting

Primarily using natural light, I will also be experimenting with off camera controlled flash, gels and some other ideas I have from my Film PR Photography.

TFP Session One – David Smith

Well it was raining/drizzly but we decided to do it anyway. Some of the locations were under cover after all. The subway was a bit tricky to light correctly handholding the off camera flash and camera so I need to use my tripod for that. Its still a wicked location but given it was a test we soon moved on to the other locations. Dave mentioned at the end that he really liked the look of the alley photo I had taken on my location recce so we quickly did that before calling it quits.

As a starter for ten to show what is possible in a short space of time, within the constraints of my lunch hour I have to say I was really happy with the results. Dave was excellent to work with and the shots seemed to flow nicely.

So without further ado here are my first TFP Session in Guilford Shots. I basically colour corrected them and then did a black and white contrasty version so in total there are 8 shots here. I might remove a few as being too similar, but this is more for information on what was produced than anything.

TFP Session Two – Owen Morgan

I work with Owen, and he is leaving us to go full time on his swimming coaching, personal training and also is starting out with a Sports Modelling Agency. As an athlete, Owen is one of the fastest freestyle 50m swimmers in the UK. Its my intention to give him a bit of a hand with his portfolio and also advice where its relevant. This was his first ever photoshoot, and I had my camera with me to photograph some products at work so we did this about 5 minutes from the office. So not in Guildford ;-)

A very high percentage for a first shoot. I gave Owen some tips on posturing and posing for the camera and we planned to do the next shoot in Guildford suited and booted.

TFP Session Three – Robbie Manners

Well it was raining/drizzly again and the night before I had doubts but didnt want to let Robbie down and had spotted some more locations that could be use in the wet without getting wet. We shot quite quickly trying the new locations and headed for my tried and tested bridge. Found one really, really good spot with nice light that I will definitely use again and one spot that I thought would work and didn’t.

TFP Session Four – Owen Morgan

A slightly odd day with overcast clouds but also muggy produced some really nice shots. For some reason there was quite a bit of light despite not being able to see the sky and so the shots look real nice. We were going for the GQ look on the shoot, all suited and booted and there was no wind so no hair problems.

I could easily have picked 40 of these images as good but went for some key shots. Owen worked really well and it produced these on his second ever photoshoot.
